Our Smoke Free School Workers deliver awareness assemblies and group work sessions to young people, professionals and parents in schools around smoking and vaping. You will be working as part of an amazing team at WithYou, and supporting Change, Grow, Live to deliver the young people's element of the service - Lancashire Smoke Free.
Job Description
As a Smoking Cessation School Worker, you will deliver assemblies and group work sessions to small and large groups of Young People up to 18 years of age in schools and youth group settings. You will also deliver awareness sessions in person or online to parents and professionals, whilst attending events and holding a stand to raise awareness of the service. Essential Skills
To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:
- OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months
- experience of working with Young People and/or a qualification in substance misuse, mental health, psychology, nursing or youth work
- a confident and engaging presenter able to communicate information to large groups of young people
- knowledge and understanding of: issues affecting young people, vaping, smoking cessation, solution focussed brief therapy and/or motivational interviewing
- excellent written and oral communication skills, including engaging delivery of presentations to large groups of young people
- the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
- good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
- effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
- access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence
This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check. This position will involve travelling to schools and Young People's settings across Central (Preston) and East Lancashire (Burnley). The role is for term-time only and the salary will be pro-rated.
