Skills & Experience:

In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, statutory guidance, and relevant case law.
Proven experience managing statutory housing reviews and audit processes.
Experience working within or alongside local authority housing services.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and legal documents.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and support colleagues at all levels.
Strong organisational skills.
High attention to detail



What's involved with this role: In this role, you will lead the statutory independent housing review process, ensuring decisions on homelessness and housing allocations comply with the Housing Act 1996. You'll drive service quality by providing expert guidance, delivering training, and supporting continuous improvement across the Housing Options team.

Key duties:

Manage and carry out statutory housing reviews, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with council policies.
Provide expert legal advice on housing legislation and case law, supporting litigation and case preparation.
Lead quality assurance initiatives to ensure consistent, high-standard decision-making and service delivery.
Develop compliance and audit programs, and oversee accurate government housing data submissions.
Identify service risks and trends, creating strategic plans and delivering staff training to improve performance and outcomes.
