National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our team. The Senior Structures Engineer will provide technical expertise in the Asset Management and maintenance of Highway structures assets. As a Structures Engineer, you will lead on the development of structures (Bridges and other structures) asset management documents such as management of substandard structures, management of post tensioned structures.

This role can be based from our Wakefield, Darlington or Leeds Office.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.

  • Lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
  • Lead the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
  • Monitor the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues.
  • Identify, prepare briefs and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets.
  • Develop the technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractors for improvement and renewals work.

About you.

  • Structural / Civil Engineer with appropriate experience or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered Engineer level.
  • Experience in Highway Structures management, inspection, assessment and design.
  • Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works and Eurocodes.
  • Experience in highway construction and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
