Summary
Racial Justice Schools Adviser
Salary: £40,500 FTE p.a. (£24,300 PT) – 4-year contract
Hours: Part-time – 21 hours per week – 0.6 (consideration could be given to term time only by arrangement)
Location: Diocesan office, Stoke Gifford with opportunity for hybrid working
The Organisation
The Diocese of Bristol is the administrative area of the Church of England that covers Bristol and Swindon. There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy, and around 15,000 children and young people attend our 71 church schools.
This is an exciting time within the Diocese as we are collaboratively shaping a new vision and set of priorities for the coming years in a process called Transforming Church. Together. We want to understand what we do well, what we can change for the better and how to create a positive way forward together. This role will be key in preparing for what the future brings.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Racial Justice Schools Adviser will collaborate with schools within the Diocese of Bristol to develop, improve and share best practice around racial justice and inclusion. The post holder will lead on supporting the Diocese to embed the Education elements of the Lament to Action plan. This will require them to create and sustain a supportive network focused on developing and enhancing anti-racist and historically transparent pedagogic practices narratives, learning materials and resources. They will support the creation of diverse schools within the Diocese, with representation and inclusion from UK Minority Ethnic (UKME)/Global Majority Heritage (GMH) students, staff and governors.
