**Senior Buyer - Fixed term contract for 6 months with a possibility to go permanent. **

**Reports to: Planning & Materials Purchasing Lead**
In this role, the **Senior Buyer** is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery of materials, supporting the production team in meeting customer commitments, while maintaining optimal inventory levels and fostering productive supplier relationships.
**Key Accountabilities**
**Procurement and Material Management**
* Place and expedite orders for assigned commodity ranges to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
* Monitor supplier inventory levels and address any anomalies proactively.
* Maintain and update the ERP system item master for purchasing and planning-related fields.
**Delivery and Performance Monitoring**
* Ensure the on-time delivery of materials to production to support customer order fulfilment.
* Continuously work to reduce supply chain lead times and enhance operational efficiency.
**Supplier Relations**
* Develop and sustain productive working relationships with suppliers, maintaining a professional image aligned with company values.
**Training and Development**
* Actively enhance skills and technical knowledge through on-the-job and external training opportunities for yourself and the team
* Communicate effectively across departments to meet customer service standards and business objectives.
* Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
* Serve as the first point of escalation for issues related to material purchases, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining operational continuity.
**What Were Looking For**
* GCSE Maths and English is essential.
* Minimum of 3 A Levels grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications.
* Substantial experience in procurement within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
* A self-motivated approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply chain issues, such as shortages or overstocking.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with suppliers, production teams, and stakeholders.
