Summary


Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Manager, this highly proactive role will support the management of Health and Safety across the Trust.

Your principal role will be to support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System whilst undertaking a regime of training, continual auditing, monitoring and review.

You will support the Trust you will review policies and procedures in relation to Occupational Health and Safety.

You will promote, at all times, a strong ‘Safety Culture’.

To support the Health and Safety Team in the promotion of a consistent approach to the management of Health and Safety across the Trust through helping managers to develop local policies, guidelines and audit criteria which will assist staff in complying with Trust Policies and Statutory requirements.

Promote the general health, safety and welfare of employees through collaboration with other departments and individuals who have responsibilities in respect of health, safety and welfare issues as appropriate.

Main responsibilities are:
• Actively engaging with staff side and nominated Safety Representatives ensuring effective two-way communication and consultation, and involvement in joint H&S inspections and audits
• Collaborating with external organisations, Contractors and Consultants as appropriate
• Support the team to ensuring health and safety codes of practice, policies, procedure and standards are in place and updated accordingly on a regular basis
• Support with the identification and development of training to ensure relevant developmental events and training exercises are delivered
• Undertake a programme of health and safety inspections, audits as directed by the Senior Health and Safety Manager
• Supporting colleagues in their efforts to embed a safety culture
• Supporting with the implementation and operational maintenance of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard
• Oversight and maintenance of the health and safety internet site
• Coordination of a programme of health and safety tours and inspection across the divisional and Corporate management team
• Assist the Senior Health and Safety Manager with non-clinical investigations
• To support the Health and Safety Team with the successful delivery of relevant communications across the Trust
• To support the Health and Safety Team with the review and delivery of training
• To manage and maintain the health and Safety helpdesk responses
• To promote a positive health and safety culture across the Trust
• To support the wider Health and Safety Team as appropriate
• The post holder will be expected to undertake a programme of continuous professional development maintaining and updating their specialist knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety in order that they are in a position to offer high a quality professional service
• The post holder will in conjunction with the Health and Safety team analyse and interpret the outcomes of inspections and audits, and offer advice and support on the range of options identified to control, reduce and manage risk
• Work across multi sites as required (Trust wide)
