Summary
Occupational therapy support workers work alongside the Occupational Therapist to enable the delivery of the Occupational Therapy intervention. To ensure that the service users receives intensive and practical support to reach their goals.
They can support by carrying out practical elements of the OT intervention and actively support the service-user with the established plan or goals.
We are looking to recruit a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant/Support Worker post within our Crisis Home Treatment Team in Hammersmith and Fulham.
The role will involve providing a client-centred occupational therapy service to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs, within the local services working with multi-disciplinary team members. The role is anticipated to be a dual role which will involve the successful candidate working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide health care assistance support
To ensure that the professional standards and ethics as set out by the West London NHS Trust are adhered to at all times.
Clinical:
• All interactions with service users should be underpinned with empathy and a clear understanding of the effects of disability in the areas of productivity, leisure and activities of daily living (ADL).
• All interactions should be sensitive and responsive to the service users’ ethnic, cultural and social background, using a range of communication and engagement skills as appropriate to the context.
• To ensure that immediate concerns regarding service users are verbally reported to the relevant professionals and documented in medical/ MDT files.
• To communicate effectively verbally, in writing or electronically with all relevant MDT members, service users, carers, voluntary and statutory agencies, being mindful of confidentiality.
