Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated band 6 staff nurse.

Here at Barts Heart Centre we have 10 cath labs that provide treatmentfor patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures, interventional, electrophysiology and TAVI. Ourcardiac catheter labs also support our nationally recognised emergency heart attack, arrhythmia and structural pathways. We also provide specialist cardiology services for heart failure, endocarditis, grown up congenital heart and inherited cardiac conditions.

You will have an opportunity to rotate internally between Cardiology Intervention, Electrophysiology & Structural in order to develop a full range of skills and be supported with in house training.

We have created exciting opportunities for experienced Cath Lab nurses to develop clinically in advanced nursing practices such as Implantable Loop recorders Implantations and Nurse-Led Radial Access.

You will need significant experience in cardiology cath lab and be able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge. You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve on our patient centred care.

The aim of this post is to provide the highest standards of assessment, planning,

Implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction

with the multi- disciplinary team. The post holder acts as a role model and clinical

teacher. He/she provides effective mentorship and preceptorship, participating in the

education and training of nursing and non- nursing staff.



The post holder will coordinate the activities of the Cardiac Catheterisation

Laboratory Unit on a regular basis, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge

Nurse in delivering safe and efficient patients’ flow. He/she is proficient with the

every-day Cath lab duties, including circulating and scrubbing for cardiac procedures.

The post holder is required to join the on-call rota for the Heart Attack Service and Direct Arrhythmia Pathway at Bart’s Heart Centre.
