Summary
In-patient Gastroenterology The Gastroenterology team at SMH currently provides a consultant ward cover on a 1 in 6 basis. Almroth Wright ward is 15 side room beds. The Consultant of the week also is responsible for providing advice for inpatient referrals, performing vetting and managing inpatient GI bleeds while covering the wards weekdays 9am 5pm. Each post also has a 1:30 commitment to the Acute Medical Take. Gastroenterology out-patient services General Gastroenterology out-patient clinics Inflammatory bowel disease outpatient clinics at St Marys, Hammersmith and Charing Cross Specialist HPB clinics at Hammersmith Day case endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP & EUS, balloon enteroscopy Capsule endoscopy (CXH and SMH) Upper GI physiology (SMH) Bowel Cancer Screening Acute GI Bleeding on call There is an on-call consultant who covers all three sites for Upper GI Bleeding out of hours. The post holders will not have a commitment to this rota, but will be expected to be confident managing emergency inpatient GI bleeds including variceal therapy.
