Summary
The Neurodiversity Employment Coach supports individuals who are neurodivergent in finding, securing, and thriving in meaningful employment. This role involves collaborating with both job candidates and employers to create inclusive workplace environments, offering tailored coaching, and ensuring sustainable employment outcomes.
Support for Neurodivergent Individuals
- Manage a customer case load effectively to ensure customer realise their full potential and move into sustainable employment
- Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to identify strengths, career goals, and barriers to employment
- Develop/add to personalised employment plans, including skills assessments, job search strategies, and career development pathways
- Support with CV writing, interview preparation, and onboarding processes
- Offer ongoing support to help individuals adjust to and thrive in their roles, addressing challenges as they arise
- Where appropriate make referrals to assessment organisations such as Beyond
Clinics for ADHD assessment’
- Benefit support and additional support funding applications
Employer Collaboration
- Partner with employers to promote awareness of neurodiversity and inclusive hiring practices
- Provide training to managers and teams on supporting neurodivergent employees, including accommodations and communication strategies
- Assist with job design to align roles with the strengths of neurodivergent candidates
Program Development and Implementation
- Design and implement neurodiversity-focused employment initiatives within the organisation or community
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, collecting feedback to refine services
- Collaborate with other teams or external organisations to enhance support systems
- Work with partner organisations to administer pre-screening and eligibility tests as required such as ASRS screening tests, Browns Assessments
Advocacy and Education
- Serve as an advocate for neurodivergent individuals in the workplace, ensuring equity and accessibility
- Stay informed about best practices and trends in neurodiversity employment, integrating them into coaching and training programs
Key Performance Indicators
- % of referrals successfully placed into employment within a 6-month period of the referral date to a Neurodiversity Employment catch
- % of neurodivergent referrals maintain employment to sustained employment status
- Caseload management approx. caseload of 50 at any one-time FTE
- Participant satisfaction score from surveys rated at 4.5 or above
- Employer satisfaction score from surveys rated at 4.5 or above
- 70% of participants complete one or more training/skill development courses
- Number of successful referrals made to other services or support networks e.g mental health services, legal advice or disability resources
- Number of coaching sessions held with participant’s, both individual and group sessions
- % of participants who achieve a defined ‘job readiness’ milestone e.g CV development, mock interview, self-advocacy, applied for additional support funding
- CPD maintained and updated
- Maintain a grade 2 observation
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications and specific training
- Degree in social work, psychology, education, human resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience) (essential)
- Certification in career coaching, disability advocacy, or workplace inclusivity (desirable)
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and workplace accommodations (desirable)
- Experience designing and delivering training programs (desirable)
- Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification (desirable)
- First Aid at Work Certificate (desirable)
Experience
- Experience working with neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other cognitive differences (essential)
- 2-5 years of experience in coaching, vocational counselling, disability services, or related roles (essential)
- Knowledge of the local labour market (desirable)
Knowledge
- Barriers to learning and employment (essential)
- How to support customer and promote independence (essential)
- Support strategies for various customer specific needs (essential)
- Prior exposure to neurodiversity assessments, such as ASRS or Brown ADD Diagnostic frameworks (desirable)
- Familiarity with referral pathways and the broader clinical ecosystem (desirable)
