Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer (Teaching Focus) in Twentieth-Century Global History in the Department of History.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related field, experience of teaching at undergraduate level, and the ability to develop teaching materials and engage creatively with students. This post is funded by a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship for Dr Markus Daechsel and is therefore fixed term to coincide with the duration of the grant funding.

Appointments will only be made at the advertised salary. The candidate must be available to start in September 2025.

We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in any field of twentieth-century Global History. Preference may be given to candidates with a specialism in any region of the Global South. In the first year, your teaching will include the final-year undergraduate Special Subject ‘The Curse of Aid: International Development 1940-2000’, for which you will act as convenor and supervise associated dissertations. You must be comfortable teaching beyond your immediate area of expertise and may be asked to contribute to a range of module options in modern history, as well as broad-based conceptual and historiographical modules, and to have pastoral responsibility for personal tutees.
