Summary

We are seeking a full time (1.0FTE) fixed-term Research Associate for 6 months. You will work with Dr Elisabeth Garratt on an ESRC-funded project entitled ‘Navigating household food insecurity and environmental sustainability on a low income: A case study of Sheffield mothers’. You will be involved in a variety of research activities, including qualitative data analysis, and contributing to research outputs. You will also handle project administration tasks such as data management, quality assurance, and archiving. You will also contribute to planning and delivering dissemination and impact activities.
Main duties and responsibilities
● Code and analyse primary longitudinal qualitative data from low-income mothers (or other caregivers), their networks, and service representatives in Sheffield
● Undertake cross-sectional and longitudinal data analysis using NVivo software
● Contribute to the preparation of journal articles, and project summaries for professionals and participants
● Contribute to presentations to be delivered at internal seminars and national and international conferences
● Undertake administrative duties, including data management, quality assurance, and archiving activities
● Keep up to date with ongoing research associated with current projects
● Contribute to coordinating an end-of project dissemination event aimed at both academic and non-academic audiences, and other impact, knowledge exchange and dissemination activities, including conference attendance
● Manage your own time and adhere to agreed timetables
● Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post

● A PhD in Sociology or cognate discipline (such as Anthropology) (assessed at: Application form)
● Significant experience of and skills in undertaking qualitative analysis (assessed at: Interview)
● Excellent report writing skills (assessed at: Application form)
● Track record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals (assessed at: Application form)
● Experience of and skills in managing projects, specifically data management, quality assurance, and archiving activities (assessed at: Interview)
● Excellent interpersonal skills (assessed at: Interview)
● Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including research participants, research partners, other stakeholders and the media (assessed at: Interview)
● Excellent information technology skills in the use of relevant software, including NVivo (assessed at: Application form)
