Summary
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.
This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £18,961.56 - £20,240.84 per annum. For any roles that start part way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro rata to the remaining months.
Protection of Children and Young Persons (The Children's Act 1989)
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position, as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).
This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST
As part of the Re-engagement offer at WCG, and with a specific focus on young people not in education, employment or training a range of courses have been developed as an important strand in the college’s offer to post 16 learners.
The client group comes from a variety of backgrounds with various barriers to learning and progression. The young people may well demonstrate challenging behaviour and have a range of issues which have prevented them from previous educational engagement. The courses are designed to re-engage these young people with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and personal and social development. Thus supporting these individuals to succeed and enable them to progress onto a positive mainstream choice, into employment or an apprenticeship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● To carry out face-to-face training and assessment for students within the Re-engagement area, which will include; skills development, supporting students to achieve their qualifications, provide feedback on progress, complete student assessments and offer guidance and support to students.
● To ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with the HASAW Act and the College Health and Safety Policy.
● Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.

For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre-employment checks, to include but not limited to DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).
Essential Attainments
● Good general education. Preference for GCSE A-C grades or Level 2 in English and Maths
● Experience of working effectively with groups of young adults.
● Experience of working effectively with people with challenging behaviours.
● Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including report writing skills.
● Excellent organisational skills
● Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
● A First Aid qualification or a willingness to gain this qualification
● A nationally recognised teaching qualification or willingness to complete and achieve the Award in Education and Training.
Desirable Attainments
● Experience of delivering educational programmes
● Previous experience working in the following sectors/roles; youth leader, youth worker, youth mentor, youth instructor/coach, activities leader, sports coach, charity worker, education leader and SEN support or related positions
