Summary


The opportunity has arisen to join a progressive and friendly urology department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.Two full time post are availabledue to expansion within the department. The successful candidates will join a team of 7 full time consultants providing a range of urological services. The successful candidates will be expected to provide core urological services in conjunction with a specialist interest. A specialist interest in benign prostate surgery including Holep, Andrology, Female and Functional Urology or Stones would be encouraged in line with the current service requirements. Candidates with a specialist interest outside of these areas are welcome to apply as restructuring and expansion of further services in the future is likely. Discussion with the Specialty Lead is encouraged in the first instance. We run a dedicated one-stop LUTS clinics and are looking for these expansion posts to help with the provision of this service.

· Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of urological conditions of general urology patients.

· To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Urology Department.

· Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students where applicable.

· To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

· To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.

· To attend meetings as appropriate.

· Fulfill duties of weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities.

Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee. Applicants must continue to hold a License to Practice.
