Summary
About the role
We are currently recruiting a Lead Head of Operations to take full ownership and accountability for the performance of 329 Tesco Cafes, comprising a team of circa 3000 team members, 600 Team leaders, 329 Cafe Managers, 21 Operations Managers and Head of Operations North and South.
We are looking for someone to lead the Cafe Operational Leadership agenda and have a role in forming company strategy and delivering company objectives and a real passion about business performance and people development.
You will be responsible for
Customer Experience
- Ensure the safe & secure operation of all operational activities across your Café estate
- You will nurture the delivery of great drink & food, ensuring delivery is spot on, efficient and something our guests will love every time
- Encourage your teams to gather guest feedback from our guests
- Analyse guest feedback & financial results to build solutions for business improvement
- Ensure the brand standards & menus are delivered expertly throughout your team
Develop your team
- Deliver training, mentor & communication that improves your team’s confidence and performance
- Take ownership for your teams’ internal & external reputation
- Build, communicate and lead your team ensuring todays activity supports our future plans
- Successful succession & talent planning for your team is in place and actively encouraged
- Focus your training efforts on service efficiency & driving incentives with your team
Business Management
- Drive sales & increase profits by crafting a culture with your Head of Operations ensuring we improve returns in all areas of the business
- Lead a culture of success year on year building plans for the future identifying succession
- Review Head of Operations sales performances, identify improvements & build business plans with to improve results and service, drilling down to ensure investments value are delivered
- Review trends & ensure all new initiatives are delivered with passion and enthusiasm.
- Build cross-sector & cross-functional relationships to help you day to day
- Play a pivotal leadership role in the Café Investment process

- Communicate strategy to your team & ensure that the cascade of information and activities are clear and concise
- Adapt your leadership style to different people & situations
- Be assertive & unafraid to challenge people constructively
- Deliver difficult messages when vital
You will need
- Widescale multisite management experience, working in branded hospitality operations like Cafes, quick service, food service etc
- Consistent record of delivering great results through multi-site teams
- Passion for food creation and quality delivery
- Tenacity, drive and energy to keep seeking out the best possible outcome
- Ability to lead an Operations Team, sharing standard methodology and seeking support when vital
- Evidence of crafting & developing successful teams who consistently deliver brand expectations
- Proof of living & breathing guest service
- Evidence of making good decisions under pressure
- Inherent understanding of our Cafés; having an affinity with the offer and its future
- Examples of an ability to create a vision and engage your teams to deliver required results
- Understanding of central functions and how they can support your teams
- Ability to work across a broad geography always handling time and effectiveness
