Summary


The post is based in the Estates Department. Work undertaken will cover the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust property portfolio which includes remote locations. All team members are routinely required to work unsupervised within departmental standard operating procedures and to prioritise their work schedule.

A requirement to take part in the Estates out of hours On-Call rota, being 1 in every 4-6 weeks.

Working under and in close cooperation with Estates Officers be fully responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a multi-disciplined workforce delivering a wide variety of works as required to provide and maintain a safe, suitable and sufficient built environment in an acute hospital.

Provide guidance and support for staff and contractors on all issues within your area of responsibility, including those that are complex or non-routine, identifying problems and solutions, managing minor works, and contractors.

Lead by example in ensuring all statutory, regulatory and mandatory obligations are fully met, working closely with Estates Officers and others to deliver and develop best methods and practices to ensure compliance with all requirements.

• Interpret technical information and undertake fault diagnosis, analyse suitability of equipment and provisions, propose technical solutions.
• Plan, prioritise and supervise a multi-disciplined workforce engaged in a large number of activities or programmes, liaising with management, service users, contractors and specialist agencies as required.
• Directly supervise the multi-disciplined direct labour force including timekeeping, rotas, overtime and discipline, Monitor the completion of time sheets and job dockets, reporting any performance issues to the Estates Officer.
• To undertake return to work interviews following staff absences.
• Plan maintenance activities, prioritising urgent and non urgent repairs works, source supplies using technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and building materials and processes
• Plan and manage safe access to areas in order for works to be undertaken with the minimum of disruption, e.g., Plant Rooms, wards and departments, including the proper issuing and accounting for keys and permits.
• Provide quotations to other departments based on time and material costs and assist in the procurement and maintenance of stock and supplies.
• Collect, collate and assimilate technical information to support the departments governance records of maintenance activities.
• Ensure that safety procedures are observed in the use of plant, equipment, materials and working practices in accordance with legislation, regulation guidance and best practice.
• Participate in training as required and to assist with the training and induction of other staff.
• To take part in an emergency on-call rota where necessary and assist as directed by Estates Officers or senior management in an emergency
• Any other duties as delegated by the Estates Officer relevant to the post/department
