Summary

Bespoke Kitchen Sales Designer

£35,000 per annum plus generous sales commission

At the cutting-edge of modern British design, our client has a very strong brand and excellent image, reputation and online profile. They are primarily focused at supplying interior designers, developers, contractors, architects and discerning private clients with bespoke kitchens and cabinetry.

We are helping them recruit an experienced Sales Designer to join their award-winning and vibrant team.

Their design team are based between Amersham, Buckinghamshire and their show home studio in Chiswick, West London. The close relationship between design and production is one of their USPs.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have an excellent eye for kitchen design and proven sales and client-handling skills. They will have strong experience in both selling and conceptually designing intricate bespoke kitchens, direct from a client brief. They require a minimum of two years' direct customer facing sales experience with a high-end bespoke kitchen or joinery company, with a background in either product or interior design.

Our client predominantly uses SketchUp for concept design development, at which point the drawings are passed to the Production Designer who uses SolidWorks to translate these into production drawings, for both production and client sign off. SketchUp experience is desirable but not essential, as long as the candidate is experienced in other 3D design software.

Their Sales Designers also act as Project Managers throughout the design process, arranging samples and taking responsibility for all client communications until the drawings are passed into production, when the project is handed onto the installations team. One of the main aspects of the role therefore is client liaison, so the successful candidate will be extremely presentable, highly organised, a clear communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The role requires an excellent eye for inspirational design and a drive to explore new design styles and materials to use on new projects. While predominantly they are looking for someone with direct kitchen experience, the role will also encompass designing all manner of residential and commercial joinery and cabinetry.

Full training will be provided and there is huge scope for career progression for the right candidate.

Duties will include:

- To work as part of a team of 5 x Sales and Concept Designers.

- To take on new leads weekly, qualifying the leads and converting any prospects to opportunities, managing the sale process according to our client's sales process.

- To produce concept visuals and presentations and/or drawings for their client's approval for luxury interiors.

- To conduct initial site surveys and liaise with site contacts.

- To specify appliances and hardware using industry knowledge.

- To produce and update detailed client quotations using their proprietary software, outlining all relevant costs included in a joinery or kitchen package.

- To specify materials, arrange samples and compose finishes palettes, often liaising with Interior Designers.

- To hold client meetings, often involving clients' Builders and Architects.

- To communicate with suppliers such as worktop and metal fabricators to cost and detail specialist design elements.

- To work with the in-house technical design team to develop the full drawing pack.

- To ensure deadlines are met and designs are produced efficiently.

Experience Required:

- Previous bespoke kitchen / joinery sales and client-facing experience is essential.

- Previous bespoke joinery, kitchens and furniture design role, OR Furniture Design Degree or similar is desirable. Designers who have developed joinery and kitchen packages in an interior design role or course will also be considered.

- Experience with the following software packages is desirable - A 3D Design Software such as SolidWorks or SketchUp and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc).

- Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills.

- A thorough approach and attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

- Positive working attitude with a willingness to learn and continually develop skills.

- Passionate about design.
