Summary
As a specialist prosecutor within counter terrorism division you review cases, make charging decisions and where appropriate prosecute cases, in accordance with the code for crown prosecutors, in relation to matters relating to national security and actions of the state- principally terrorism, core international crimes (war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and torture), state threats (National Security Act and Official Secrets Act offences), hijacking, piracy and inciting hatred. You advise on and prepare cases for prosecution, undertaking a personal caseload of complex criminal cases, requiring the marshalling of large quantities of evidence and unused material which needs to be formulated into cogent and manageable prosecution and disclosure strategies, using highly developed legal skills. You will be required to consider cases fairly in accordance with the code assessing the risks posed to victims and the public. You will conduct advocacy in the Magistrates Court and, if appropriately qualified, suitable hearings in the crown court.
