Summary
We have an immediate vacancy for a Fabricator in our Metal Department for a leading manufacturer of Industrial Cabs for Forklift Trucks and other markets in the material handling industry with over 20-year experience.
We supply to all major forklift truck dealers and end users supplying businesses with regular or one-off requirements for full cabs, PVC canopies or single screens. We have comprehensive manufacturing capabilities covering the many processes and techniques.
Working in the our Metal Department, predominantly within the fabrication section for a leading manufacturer of Industrial Cabs for Forklift Trucks. You will be responsible for the manufacturing of a variety of mild steel metal components between 1.6mm and 5mm ensuring high quality and precision from start to finish.
With a ‘can do’ attitude who is happy to assist in all areas of the shop floor. The Fabricator: Metal will assist the Production Manager and the Team Leader: Final Assembly to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the Metal & Final Assembly Production to ensure that goods and services are produced on time, on quality and in full to meet the quality standards set by the business.
The Fabricator: Metal will form good working relationships with their colleagues and interact with the wider organisation, good communication, interpersonal skills are vital. This role involves reading technical drawings and following drawing instructions to manufacture the final products, understanding technical drawings, and learning new systems is an integral part of the role.
The role responsibilities are to assist the Production Manager in the daily operations of a busy steel workshop and daily general operation and production of the Metal Department to ensure all the following requirements are always meet:
• Supporting the Production Manager and Team Leader: Final Assembly with Metal Production in the Metal Department and attain Production targets within budget to meet set targets of the business.
•Hands on approach, handling specialist responsibilities in the Metal Department and within the Final Assembly Department. Use of power tools such as drills, angle grinders, chop saws.
•Identifying and reporting if drawings need to be updated or improved.
•Checking dimensions and angles of screens and brackets to ensure correct to drawing.
•Use of fabrication machinery such as the brake press, sheet metal roller, box pan folder, guillotines, pipe bender.
•Preparing Materials for fabrication, cutting, tacking, folding & bending.
•Preparing parts for powder coating.
•Powder coating operations.
•Operating to Metal Procedures OP26, Metal Fault Finding, Final Assembly, Manufacturing & Final Despatch Assembly and Customer Service Communication.
•Undertaking training to self-develop skills in the Metal Department including training and development, appraisals, communication, structures by setting & maintain a team culture.
•Ensuring the Metal Department is fit for purpose and presented to an excellent, professional standard to satisfy ISO:9001:2015 Quality Standards.
•Resolving the Metal Department technical issues & processes, including maintenance, problem solving and dealing with Quality issues accordingly.
•Liaising with all personnel in Metal, Metal Production, Cutting & Welding-PVC, Design, Commercial, Customer Service, Logistics & Quality Environment Health & Safety to achieve set goals & objectives of the business adhering to Health & Safety Standards throughout the business.
•Utilising the business systems ie People HR, QT9 & ISO Systems & Processes in the Metal Departments.
Key Skills/Attributes & Experience:
NVQ Level 3 Welder (or equivalent).
Proficient in TIG and MIG welding.
Strong ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Available to work across all areas of Shop Floor
