Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust are actively recruiting for a motivated and experienced Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Therapies Team for the Acute Care of the Elderly wards at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, Essex.

We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic in supporting change, who enjoys working in fast paced acute healthcare and is looking to take up a challenge in a supportive, cutting-edge environment. We require an innovative person who can demonstrate strong leadership as well as excellent communication and team management skills. The focus is on early assessment and intervention to support high quality patient care, and we are therefore seeking somebody who can demonstrate rapid and robust decision making.

You will highly have specialist knowledge of geriatric and acute elderly conditions, pathologies, and physiotherapy management across a range of medical specialties. This will also include knowledge and skills in respiratory and neurology. A flexible approach is essential as you will also support other areas when required within the wider Medical Team to meet service demands. To provide specialist standard Physiotherapist service to patients within the acute elderly team with a special focus on the assessment of patients admitted on the acute elderly wards, facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries using a holistic approach.
To give specialist guidance, advice, and education to other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) on matters relating to your specialist area.

Provide leadership for your team (in conjunction with the Clinical Leads) in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Physiotherapy service provided to patients within your area.

To provide a lead role in teaching, supervising and appraising peers, Band 6, Band 5, Student Physiotherapists and Generic Therapy Assistants

To deputise in the absence of senior colleagues as required both within management and clinical areas.

Our patients are benefitting from ourWomen’s Health Hubin Ilford; anAgeing Well Centrein Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospitaland atSt George’s Health and Wellbeing Hubin Hornchurch.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
