As part of the Science Museum Group (SMG), Locomotion continues with the same mission of inspiring futures thanks to its fantastic collection of iconic locomotives demonstrating engineering brilliance.

Following investment in a new shop at Locomotion, the Museum Retail team is looking for a new Retail Team Leader. You will lead our museum assistants to welcome visitors and provide them with an interactive and fun experience in our shop, on a full time permanent basis at Locomotion.

About the role

In this role, you will assist the Retail Manager by leading by example and motivating a sales team to deliver the day to day operation of our Museum Shop. You will also encourage excellent customer service, maximise revenue, championing customer interactions, maintain visual merchandising to its highest standards and process stock in our onsite stockroom

About you

You will have good communication skills and an understanding how to motivate and develop people and teams. Bringing sales skills, you will be comfortable working to, and exceeding, sales targets. Excellent visual merchandising skills will be required, along with an understanding of best practice in the retail sector. You will be flexible and adaptable, able to problem-solve and support your team in handling customer questions or issues. You will work well within diverse teams and will be able to build effective working relationships.
