FTE: 1 fte (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Fixed term until March 2027 with potential for extension

Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities

The Sport Welfare Officer will work with key partners and local sports clubs to promote good practice and provide support for the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and adults, as part of a national network of Sport Welfare Officers in England funded by Sport England.

The Sport Welfare Officer will map the current provision, identify strengths and weaknesses and then co-design and deliver a comprehensive support package working closely with key partners.

The support package will include the provision of resources, training, awareness raising activities, promotion of best practice and facilitating networking opportunities.

The Sport Welfare Officer will lead on the project reporting to Sport England and the Active Partnerships National Organisation and embed the Monitoring and Evaluation tools within the delivery of the project.

Skill and experience required

The Sport Welfare Officer will have prior welfare and safeguarding experience, building relationships and designing and delivering effective safeguarding support packages across a network of organisations. You will be able to support and engage with a range of key stakeholders and have an understanding of working with hard-to-reach audiences.

In addition, the Sport Welfare Officer will have an excellent knowledge of welfare and safeguarding issues, priorities and policies and infrastructure (inside and outside sport). The Sport Welfare Officer will have experience of project reporting and measuring impact.

You will be a team player with excellent communication and presentation skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, committed to continuous improvement, and have the drive and determination to achieve high-quality outcomes.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the community they support, who are keen to see people from all backgrounds get more active, so an instinct and appetite for insight and empathy will be key.



Qualifications required

Holds five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English, or proven
experience and educated with a level 3 Safeguarding Qualification or working towards
