Summary
We are seeking a empathetic and creative Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our inpatient Adult Forensic Mental Health team, where you will deliver high-quality occupation-focused interventions to patients with diverse needs in a secure setting.
You will work across the medium and low secure inpatient services at the Prestwich Site andunder the supervision of Occupational Therapists and alongside a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support male and female patients in meaningful and pro-social occupations at various stages of their recovery.
You will be responsible for supporting Occupational Therapists in planning and facilitating group and individual Occupational Therapy interventions and contributing to patient assessments and treatment plans.
Main Duties
Responsibilities:
• Support and motivate patients to engage in Occupational Therapy interventions.
• Assist in developing and maintaining meaningful and satisfying routines for patients.
• Help patients develop their communication, interaction, process, and motor skills.
• Enable patients to engage meaningfully within the restrictive environment.
OT Process:
• Plan and coordinate treatment interventions under the direction of Occupational Therapists.
• Facilitate group and individual sessions according to Occupational Therapy treatment plans.
• Record and report relevant information regarding patients' presentation, risk, and functional ability.
• Contribute to Occupational Therapy assessments and complete single observation MOHOST under supervision.
MDT:
• Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions regarding patients' treatment and discharge.
• Liaise with other team members and external agencies.
• Attend relevant meetings and work in other secure areas as required.
