Summary
Are you a proactive and collaborative operational manager? Would you be interested in working in one of London's most unique visitor attractions?
About us
The Science Museum aims to inspire visitors with award-winning exhibitions, iconic objects and stories of incredible scientific achievement. Our world-class collection forms an enduring record of scientific, technological, and medical advancement from across the globe.
The Learning & Events team at the Science Museum is unique in its scale and approach to engaging all ages with STEM and the Museum's collection. The team work across the Museum and in specific interactive galleries for children and young people; they are responsible for a busy, daily schools programme (in excess of 350,000 school visits pa) alongside hosting exciting large-scale events for families, adults and community groups.
The team sits within a larger Public Programmes team and has close links to gallery and exhibition development, to ensure that everything we do at the Museum creates an amazing experience for our visitors.
To support this work, we are now recruiting into a new role - Assistant Delivery Manager - who will be responsible for the delivery of the Science Museum's Learning programme and events on a day-to-day basis.
About the role
As Assistant Delivery Manager, you will work closely with the rest of the Learning & Events team and other front-facing teams to ensure that our programmes and events are properly and safely staffed and delivered. You will be rota'd in a team of ADMs to ensure there is a lead for daily operations and programmes across 7 days of the week. This will include regular out-of-hours events (e.g. Lates, Astronights, Early Birds and Night Owls) other large ad-hoc events (e.g. Great Exhibition Road Festival, screenings, etc) as the event lead and main point of contact.
About you
Joining us, you will bring experience of supervising, supporting and developing visitor-facing staff/volunteers to deliver high-quality events and programmes. You will hold operational programme and event management skills, bringing a solutions-focused approach to ensure the smooth delivery of complex programmes and events. As this is an operational role, you will be proactive, collaborative and flexible, with a good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding procedures. You will also be a strong advocate for accessibility and inclusion in everything we do; you will consider how our programmes can be accessible to our local communities - as visitors, volunteers or staff - and work with the wider team to make this happen on a day-to-day basis.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
