Summary
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.
**Interviews for this role will take place Monday the 12th of May. The scheduled hours will be agreed upon at the interview. **
This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £13,384.27 per annum. For any roles that start part way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro rata to the remaining months.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN’S ACT 1989)
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

BACKGROUND TO THE POST
The Schools Adviser will support WCG's outreach to schools ensuring that prospective students receive accurate information and guidance to make informed decisions about their next steps.
Working as part of the WCG Careers team and reporting to the Head of Careers and Information, the role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with school Careers Leads and Careers Advisers. The aim is to understand their needs and match WCG’s resources and expertise to support them.
No two days will be the same, and key responsibilities include: organising taster days within college, coordinating school visits to showcase WCG’s offerings, providing in-school support at WCG’s key feeder schools and in doing so helping schools meet the requirements of the Provider Access Legislation.
When not engaged in schools liaison work and at busy times like induction, enrollment and general open events the post holder will work with the WCG Careers team to support the delivery of information and advice to WCG enrolled students.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about Careers Education, Advice, and Guidance and eager to develop their skills within a dynamic Further Education College. It also offers the opportunity for individuals to receive training from a leading Careers team and gain the support needed to become a qualified Careers Adviser after completing the probation period should they wish.
The successful candidate will be based at WCG’s Leamington Campus, however this role will involve frequent travel to other campuses and to local premises where WCG provide services including WCG’s key feeder schools across the region for which mileage will be paid.
The post reports to the Head of Careers and Information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
✓Establish and maintain strong relationships with key schools, delivering a range of support activities to encourage student progression to WCG.
✓Plan, coordinate attend and deliver events to enhance student engagement and increase applications to WCG. This includes school visits to campus, taster events, career fairs, and assemblies and small group talks.
✓Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including students, prospective students, teachers, parents, carers, and WCG curriculum staff.
✓Collaborate with WCG departments and curriculum teams to gather resources that support school liaison activities.
✓Conduct group tours of WCG’s colleges.
✓Confidently deliver presentations to prospective students adapting the style as needed.
✓Manage the schedule of events, ensuring appropriate staffing. Coordinating support from other members of the careers team and WCG staff as necessary.

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS
✓GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification, or willingness to work towards once in post.
✓Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications
✓Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
✓Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
✓Previous experience of supporting young people with a learning difficulty and/or disability.
✓A UK driving licence free of major endorsements and the use of a motor vehicle or the ability to find alternative means to travel regularly between college sites and local schools. This is to attend business related activities at any college that would satisfy the recruiting panel.
DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS
✓An understanding of Post 16 education options.
✓Experience of working in education, human resources or recruitment.
✓A qualification in careers advice and guidance or equivalent careers guidance qualification or the willingness to achieve
