Sunlight Care Group is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Registered Social Worker to join our expanding team in delivering high-impact, bespoke packages of care to children and families across Barking & Dagenham. This role is critical to our success in delivering services under the Specialist Intervention Service (SIS) framework.

About the Role
You will be the Qualified Social Work Manager overseeing a team of experienced Family Support Workers (FSWs), providing expert guidance, supervision, and quality assurance. You’ll support children in need, those in care, with disabilities, or subject to child protection plans – helping keep families together safely and preventing the need for care where possible.

✅ Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical supervision and operational leadership to a team of FSWs.

Coordinate and contribute to direct work with children and families in crisis.

Attend and contribute to court proceedings, permanency planning, and complex safeguarding cases.

Ensure timely, accurate reports and chronologies are submitted as per KPIs.

Actively participate in multi-agency reviews and planning meetings.

Work collaboratively with SIS managers, stakeholders, and Local Authority partners.

Be a visible leader – role-modelling reflective practice and trauma-informed care.

Essential Requirements
Social Work England (SWE) Registration

Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in Child Protection

Minimum 2 years experience working within the court arena

Experience supervising or mentoring social care staff or family support professionals

Excellent understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice in children’s social care

Ability to manage complex risk and deliver outcome-focused support

Desirable
Previous experience delivering services in line with Local Authority commissioned frameworks

Working knowledge of the Barking & Dagenham local area or similar urban boroughs

Familiarity with edge-of-care work or Family Group Conferencing
