The team are seeking a time served and qualified engineer with relevant qualifications including minimum of level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
You will be an Engineer with previous experience of the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles, light vehicles and/or plant.
You will be able to provide cover via standby as part of a prescribed and agreed system, which includes weekends, weekdays out of hours and a rota system.
Candidates are paid a standby payment when they have conducted standby duties in addition to their standard hourly rate.
Qualifications:
A time served and qualified engineer with relevant qualifications, minimum of level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
Must have a full current driving licence to meet the travel requirements of the role.
Current full driving licence (Cat B) and LGV licence (Cat C, or be prepared to obtain Cat C within 12 months of appointment). The Service may supply the necessary training to obtain this entitlement.
Skills & experience:
An Engineer with experience of the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles, light vehicles and/or plant.
An up to date knowledge of modern vehicle and plant systems including applicable legislation.
Ability to carry out a variety of strenuous tasks
Ability to diagnose and rectify faults including those present in electrical/electronic systems fitted to modern vehicles and plant.
Ability to undertake all types of mechanical repairs including hydraulics, diesel and petrol engines, automatic transmissions, retarders, full air braking systems, ABS and traction control systems.
Able to fabricate using a variety of materials including metal, wood and fibreglass.
A commitment to safe working principles and practices.
Ability to operate a range of tools and equipment as necessary.
Able to provide cover via standby as part of a prescribed and agreed system, which includes weekends, weekdays out of hours and a rota system.
Able to work to a flexible working scheme, which may include some weekends/evenings.
