Summary

These exciting and busy jobs put you at the heart of VMD’s participation in the Synergy Programme, which is a cross-government initiative to modernise and transform back-office functions, such as HR and Finance.

Synergy will provide a better experience for all users, efficiency and value for money, and standardised functional processes and data. It will impact users across the Defra Group plus three other departments including the Department for Work and Pensions, Home Office, and the Ministry of Justice.

The core-Defra Department will support the VMD, as an arm’s length body (ALB), at both strategic and operational level, cascading information and facilitating feedback from us.

You will sit in either the HR or Finance team to ensure the successful delivery of your workstream into the VMD.

To achieve this, you will:

  • immerse yourself in either the HR or Finance strand of the Synergy programme to fully understand the proposed changes and scope of works involved.
  • represent the VMD’s interests at meetings, workshops, etc, and work closely with others to develop organisational strategies and approach, updating plans, reporting progress, blockers, issues and risks on business change and business readiness for deployment.
  • help prepare the business for the impact of the changes being delivered by the programme.
  • contribute to the successful rollout of the different phases of the Synergy programme.
  • people readiness: ensuring VMD staff have the ability and capability to realise the successful outcomes of the HR or Finance strands of the Synergy Programme.
  • co-ordinate activities that must be done as a pre-requisite to wider Synergy activities.

And whilst doing this, you will work closely with the VMD’s Synergy Change Manager.

You will be required to travel within the UK to attend face-to-face meetings. You may need to stay overnight for some events.

You will also be expected to:

  • lead on and deliver other projects within your team (HR or Finance).
  • comply with ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 27001 (information security) standards, and GDPR and record management requirements.
