We are currently looking for a talented Electronics Engineer who can help us maintain our high quality of design and manufacture. It is an exciting time to join the company and the prospects for personal development and promotion have never been better.

Principal duties

Design new products
• Schematic capture
• PCB design
• Embedded firmware (ARM, C / C++)
• Mechanical design (CAD)
• Optical design
• In-house prototyping (including 3D printing)
• Specification testing
• EMC testing
• Documentation
• PC software (C# / WPF)

Support existing products
• Provide technical assistance to sales, marketing, procurement and production staff
• Component obsolescence and product improvement

Support manufacturing operations
• Documentation of products and procedures
• Introduction of new products into production, including staff training
• Software / hardware for circuit board programming / testing
• Creation of jigs / fixtures for manufacturing and testing
• Assist with the assembly, test, calibration and inspection of Calex products as necessary


Skills required

Essential
• A good (2:1 or higher) BSc or BEng Degree in Electronics Engineering, with a firm understanding of electronics design, prototyping and testing.
• Good team working skills and well developed communication skills: written, oral and presentational.
• Confidence in dealing with people at all levels, good organisational skills and an ability to manage their workload to meet tight deadlines.
• Flexibility and enthusiasm.

Desirable
• Previous experience or knowledge of designing analogue and digital electronic circuits and writing software for microprocessors.
• Programming experience in Visual Studio (C# / WPF)
• An understanding of instrumentation, signal processing and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
• Experience in the manufacture of electronic equipment, preferably in a medium sized company.
• Familiarity with modern methods of production, quality control and quality assurance.
