Summary

We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to join the Public Protection Team of our Regulatory Services Department, for the purpose of managing and delivering significant improvements to the urban environment of the City.



The Public Protection team fulfils two key roles within Regulatory Services. It provides the front-line response to a range of nuisance issues which impact on the quality of life of residents in their homes, including:andnbsp;



andmiddot; Accumulations of waste on private propertyandnbsp;

andmiddot; Sources of rodent infestationandnbsp;

andmiddot; Filthy and Verminous propertiesandnbsp;

andmiddot; Bonfires and burning of wasteandnbsp;

andmiddot; Nuisance bird feedingandnbsp;

andmiddot; Derelict private land and buildings.andnbsp;



The team dealt with over 1300 service requests relating to these types of issues in 2024 and works closely with Enforcement, ASB, highways, Environmental Services and other agencies to find solutions to issues affecting both the public realm and private land across the city.andnbsp;



The team also manages Council allotments and is responsible for 1700 separate gardens across over 70 sites in the city.



You will be focused on proactively tackling community impact nuisances, helping to manage and improve Council allotment sites and supporting pest management in the City by problem solving and designing out issues through the use of a mix of enforcement powers and targeted improvement works.



You will liaise with tenants, landlords and businesses to secure compliance with relevant legislation and improvements in the urban environment.



To apply for this role you will have a level 4 qualification, good investigative, organisational, planning and problem-solving skills and work well as part of a team.



The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to deal confidently and effectively with the public, businesses, and members of other organisations. A strong work ethic, ability to deal with a varied caseload and a commitment to customer service are essential.



The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with occasional evening/weekend working.
