Summary
The JIO Insights Hub derives information and expertise from a range of sources to inform, challenge, and corroborate the JIO’s assessment products. The Insights Hub fosters a culture of innovation and inclusion, believing our success comes through diversity of thought, experience and background. Our work is at the centre of HMG’s national security machinery, ensuring all JIO products robustly incorporate data analysis to accurately inform the UK’s national security decisions at the highest levels.
About the JIO
The Joint Intelligence Organisation (JIO) primarily supports the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), the National Security Council (NSC), the Prime Minister and other key decision-makers by providing authoritative, robust all-source intelligence assessment on a vast range of national security and foreign policy priorities.
You can read more about working for the JIO in the information pack attached at the bottom of this advert.
The Role
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play an integral role in the JIO assessment process through the provision of quantitative data expertise and information, whilst also working to improve the organisation's overall data capabilities. You will work across all JIO assessment teams to deliver high quality data analysis, and provide your own analytical insight and challenge to the critical issues the JIO considers. You will be expected to develop and maintain productive partnerships within data teams across and beyond government, and deliver training initiatives to ensure minimum standards in data analysis across the organisation.
You will be empowered to innovate and challenge the ways in which data is used to ensure the JIO remains abreast of a changing information landscape and continues to produce high quality assessment products. For the right candidate, the role offers real autonomy and the chance to make an impactful contribution to a prominent part of the intelligence and national security establishment.
The successful candidate will need to be prepared to work flexibly during a crisis to support teams in wider JIO as required, and to work on highly sensitive issues of national security concern.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver data analysis projects that contribute to JIO assessment products on various national security and foreign policy topics, including co-authorship of data-driven assessments.
- Develop and deliver data visualisations that accurately represent key findings for use in all source Intelligence Assessment.
- Identify where data analysis can add valuable insights to intelligence, national security, and foreign policy issues.
- Develop new quantitative techniques or products that will set the standard and become best practice examples for the rest of HMG and Intelligence Assessment community.
- Maintain an active understanding of the data landscape and community, including relationship management of key government and international partners, and attendance at external conferences and briefings.
- Undertake initiatives to improve and maintain the JIO's data literacy and support effective use of data across the organisation, including delivery of training sessions on data best practice.
- Mentor and support new joiners, fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity within the team.
