Summary

The main duties will include: The postholder will be expected to: Hold GDC registration and professional indemnity at an appropriate level of cover. Offer a full range of treatment for patients referred for oral surgery. Provide treatment under IV and/or RA sedation when appropriate. May be required to undertake treatment carried out under General Anaesthetic in a hospital. To maintain up to date knowledge and skills on clinical techniques and their application to patient dental care. Triage oral surgery referrals. To support other clinicians within Plymouth CDS in providing oral surgery dentistry To be responsible for Band B oral surgery dentists appraisals To provide clinical advice to staff or other health care workers on dental matters as appropriate. Provide professional advice and support to other health care workers. Liaise with other dental care providers including within the GDS and Hospital services. Undertake Administration associated with these duties including completion of appropriate NHS forms and referrals. Work alongside other oral surgery specialists, Clinical Lead and Service Manager to develop oral surgery dental services within the service and wider Southwest. Be a member of the Southwest oral surgery MCN Be part of PCDS teaching/training programme of Medical and Dental students. Support the services provision of Urgent care Dentistry when required. Provide services on more than one site as dictated by service requirements. Take part in personal development and appraisal. Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development relevant to the requirements of the service. Recognise and assist with management of medical emergencies within the dental surgery. Have a comprehensive knowledge of service emergency drugs protocol and competence for use in medical emergencies. Complete ILS and PILS training This post involves working with children and vulnerable adults and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
