Operational Manager – Role Overview
The Regional Valuation Unit (RVU) is responsible for rateable value and valuing property for tax purposes. RVU also supports Non-Domestic Rating activity and provides technical advice to other work streams in the Valuation Office Agency.
As an Operational Manager, you'll play an important role in leading and empowering a team of dedicated HEO and EO caseworkers. You will be joining a team of experienced colleagues who will share their knowledge and support you to become an integral part of the team. You'll share your own knowledge and experience in our collaborative working environment and can undoubtedly bring a new perspective to the organisation.
Operational Manager – Key responsibilities
- To lead and manage a team to achieve key operational delivery targets.
- To recognise and deal with management issues within the team and resolve them quickly and effectively, robustly dealing with performance issues applying the correct HR principles to process and escalating where appropriate.
- To create and promote an inclusive working environment that values everyone for their individual contributions.
- To engage and support the team through change by communicating the need for change, identifying, and promoting potential benefits, and ensuring the team feel involved in the development of change plans.
- Monitor operational performance of the team against strategic targets and objectives.
- To identify and communicate business needs and robust workforce plans to maximise efficiency, and to manage and mitigate potential risks.
- To encourage innovation within the team to enable continuous improvement suggestions to be captured, evaluated, shared and implemented.
- Discuss and monitor quality of non-domestic products following an initial training period.
- Confidently in hold performance-based conversations to drive productivity within the team.
