Jessie May is a Children’s Hospice at Home service supporting children and families on their journey from the point of diagnosis, with life-limiting, and life-threatening conditions through to the end of life and in bereavement.
The successful applicant will provide nursing leadership to the Jessie May Nursing team and be passionate and committed to enable children to remain at home and to support families to cope with the very many challenges they face. The applicant must have considerable, recent paediatric nursing experience, preferably with experience of working in a community setting. The applicant must have the ability to work autonomously and work well in a small team. Car driver and access to own vehicle is essential.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced paediatric nurse to gain valuable experience in supporting children with life limiting conditions and their families in the community.
We currently provide our children’s hospice at home services across Bath, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon & Wiltshire.
The service delivery hours are 08:00-20:00, including weekend, bank holiday and overnight on call as part of the 24/7 end of Life care provision for the core team.
Core hours for the clinical nurse lead will be Monday-Friday 9-5 to oversee the service.
The post-holder will ensure that quality is sustained within service delivery by developing guidelines and clinical practice standards, reporting and recording activity and undertaking audit which directly relates to clinical practice whilst providing strong leadership to the nursing team.
The post holder will be responsible for procurement, budget and deployment of all resources including equipment, clinical materials and personnel and be proactive and committed to supporting the values and ethos of the Jessie May charity.
The postholder will support the working relationship between Jessie May and UHBW and will be pivotal in providing networking opportunities throughout the Southwest in palliative care working.
