Summary

PARTNERSHIP WORKING 1. To communicate with people in a manner which promotes partnership working byrespecting a persons need for information, level of understanding, background andpreferred communication style. 2. To support people in a manner that reflects their wishes, preferences and personalities. 3. To work in partnership with family members to ensure that the needs of a family assupporters are taken into account at all times. 4. To liaise with other health and social care professionals to ensure effective and efficientcollaborative working. 5. To work in collaboration with other departments and organisations who support adultswith learning disabilities. 6. To attend, and contribute to service user review meetings. To ensure all parties areworking towards shared person centred goals. TRAINING AND EDUCATION 1. To take responsibility for ones own continuing professional development. 2. To participate in all mandatory training. 3. To attend and contribute to workshops, training courses, conferences and meetings asrequired by the States of Guernsey, some of which may be off-island. 4. To assist in the training and development of junior staff. 5. To undertake the mentorship role if the relevant qualification is held and if deemedappropriate. 6. To attend facilitated reflective practice. 7. To be a VQ assessor once appropriately trained. SERVICE DEVELOPMENT 1. To keep up to date with national best practice about services for people with learningdisability. 2. To participate in audits where required. 3. To participate in audits within ADS when required. MANAGEMENT 1. To promote good communication between all relevant parties to ensure effectivepartnership working. 2. To attend and contribute to staff meetings as appropriate. 3. In liaison with line manager, to gain experience in providing leadership to junior staff. 4. To facilitate and keep records of service reviews against shared aims and objectives. 5. To manage the security of confidential information in accordance with States of Guernseypolicy. 6. To undertake supervision with junior members of staff. 7. To alert the line manager to any concerns. GENERAL 1. To work in accordance with the 20/20 vision. 2. To work in accordance with States of Guernsey policies, procedures and standards. 3. To maintain sound administrative practices in line with States of Guernsey policy andprofessional standards. 4. With training, access organisational electronic information systems relevant to role. 5. To take all possible steps to safeguard the welfare and safety of service-users, colleaguesand self, in accordance with Health and Safety at Work (General Ordinance, Guernsey 1987). 6. To follow appropriate moving and handling techniques in the work area whilstmaintaining health, safety and security of others. 7. To identify any actual or potential risks involved in working practice. 8. To take positive steps to reduce risk whilst maximising service-users opportunities to gainbroad life experiences.
