An exciting opportunity has arisen for a midwife with experience in safeguarding to join the Hillingdon Hospital Topaz midwifery team.

We are looking for a midwife with experience in safeguarding, who will work alongside a fellow Band 7 Complex Social and /or psychological needs Specialist Midwife and be supported by the Named Midwife for Safeguarding and the Safeguarding Families Team within the Trust.

As a highly motivated individual, with passion for providing high quality, evidence-based specialist maternity care. The postholder will be integral to supporting and continually developing a small specialist team supporting families who may require enhanced safeguarding.

The midwife will lead a small geographically based team who currently support women as the case loading midwife through the antenatal and postnatal period.This service may change with the implementation of Continuity of Carer Teams.

If you are successful, you will assume the role as Complex Social and /or Psychological Needs Specialist Midwife for our Trust, and be responsible for organisation, delivery, monitoring of midwifery care and multi-agency working provided to this group of women and their families to address inequalities and improve outcomes.

The postholder will be responsible for sharing relevant and appropriate information with staff within and outside THH demonstrating safe multi-agency/partnership working in accordance with the principles of GDPR

The post holder will have responsibility networking with multi agency partners, support services, reporting, raising awareness, and working towards addressing health inequalities and improving outcomes for service users within maternity services.

The post holder will always ensure that women/ birthing people, babies, children and young people are safeguarded and their welfare promoted.

The postholder will be a specialist point of contact for colleagues and involved in providing and developing training of staff, to ensure safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and supporting the facilitation of safeguarding supervision with staff across the Trust.

The post holder will take responsibility, in partnership with the Named Midwife for safeguarding and the senior management team, in continually striving to improve the pathway for this group of service users, ensuring access to maternity services within their unit and across the Northwest London
