Summary
We have an opportunity for a hardworking, Health Care Support Worker within the Emergency Department at Royal Derby Hospital.
The Adult Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital is one of the busiest AED's in the country, seeing on average 120,000 patients per year.
This award-winning hospital which expanded its services in 2009 is looking for motivated Staff Nurses to work within our custom-built department, with plans ongoing for further expansions as part of our team providing high quality care to our patients.
As a new Health Care Support Worker in the Emergency Department, you will be supported with a supernumerary period to ensure you have exposure to all clinical areas. This will give you the opportunity to learn appropriate skills.
Duties to include but not exclusive of:
• Adherence to policies and procedures
• Working cohesively with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team
• Safeguarding vulnerable patients
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team
• One to one supervision of high risk patients when required
• Patient care including: -Phlebotomy, cannulation and performing ECG's, wound care, observations, personal care
• Telephone communications with patients and other departments
• Giving information to patients
• Working in resuscitation which can lead to exposure to challenging situations
• This job requires long periods of standing and requires some physical agility
It is expected that the Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker will be rostered according to service need and requirements, and will be expected to work day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
