About Us
Hull City Council established its Building Safety Team in 2024 in response to significant legislation, including the Building Safety Act and the Fire Safety England Regulations, following the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Our team is responsible for ensuring building safety in multi-occupancy dwellings across the city, which includes overseeing 19 high-rise buildings, 7 medium-rise buildings, 5 sheltered blocks and 445 low-rise blocks.
We collaborate closely with the Housing Investment Team, which manages and delivers responsive and cyclical maintenance, specialist compliance works, planned improvement projects, and refurbishment schemes for a stock of 24,000 domestic properties. In addition, we work together with the High-Rise Tenancy and Facilities Management teams.
The JobAn exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full time, permanent Project Surveyors who will be based within the Building Safety Team. The main responsibilities of the role are:

Reviewing fire risk assessments and undertaking works to comply with the requirements.
Undertake Biannual communal inspections of all high-rise blocks and annual inspections to all low-rise and sheltered blocks identifying repairs to comply with fire safety regulations and health and safety.
Oversee the delivery of multiple fire safety improvement works including door replacements, installation of dry risers, fire compartmentation improvements.
Work with specialist fire engineers to produce detailed specifications and collate information for Building Control applications.

The successful candidates must be able to empathise, deal with issues sensitively and appropriately and refer on to services when necessary.
There will be further development and training opportunities within these roles.
The roles will be based between office(s), home and other locations, and you can work flexibly within this according to the needs of the team, your role and the working day.
