Key Information

Start date: Immediate
Pay rate: £12.75 per hour
Office Location: Royal Mail, 1 Future Walk, West Bars, Chesterfield, S49 1PF
Temporary Contract: Up to 3 months (with potential for this to be extended)
Hours: Around 34 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00am – 18:30pm Monday – Friday (in the office)

Primary Objectives of the Job

  1. To comply with the credit policy as agreed with Royal Mail & PFWW to provide additional service/ information when requested
  2. To manage and reduce over term debt for a given area and provide key information to line manager on bad debt
  3. To achieve business targets set by the management team
  4. Take and deal with ad-hoc internal and external telephone queries. Resolve customer disputes or queries, contacting other sections or units as necessary.

Key Areas of Job Responsibilities

  1. Accurately record on the Create Contact, details of communications made with customers, in particular any promise to pay or disputed charge should be logged.
  2. Ensure appropriate liaison with Sales in pursuing overdue debts and ensuring that the Sales teams are aware of any problems.
  3. Discuss payment options for customers who are experiencing genuine difficulty in settling their account, which may involve visiting the customer with the Account Manager. Refer requests for payment plans to line manager for authorisation.
  4. Ensure that information on bad or doubtful debts is passed to line manager with appropriate paperwork / history for further action.
  5. Log, accurately and clearly, all action points on customers’ records to ensure an up-to-date profile is kept of the customer.
  6. Work as part of a team, taking telephone calls when other team members are unable to do so.
  7. Other work as directed by Manager

Specific Skills Required

  1. Excellent telephone manner
  2. Good keyboard skills/computer skills/ knowledge of SAP, Excel & Word
  3. Flexible approach to team working
  4. High degree of knowledge for Royal Mail & PFWW products and services as well as its policies and processes
  5. Numerate and accurate with a good methodical approach to work
  6. Customer focused with excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  7. Good Interpersonal Skills, including the ability to work with all levels of people both internal and external.
  8. Problem solving / analytical skills.
  9. The ability to work under pressure, organise and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
  10. Organisational and planning skills
  11. To work as part of a team.
