The Opportunity:
The Core Facility Bioinformatician will provide bioinformatics expertise and support to researchers across the institute. As a member of the established IGC Bioinformatics Analysis Core (BAC), the role involves working collaboratively with diverse research teams to develop computational workflows, analyze large-scale omics datasets, and deliver high-quality insights that drive cutting-edge biomedical discoveries.
As a Core Facility Bioinformatician, this role will play a pivotal role in enabling ground breaking research at the IGC. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of computational and experimental science, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address fundamental questions in genetics and disease.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The salary for this post is £ £40,247 to £47,874 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science (or near completion) or a closely related discipline.
Research experience in computational biology, particularly projects generating novel insights into human or medical genomics.
Demonstrable skills in project management, in particular the management of multiple projects concurrently.
Experience in the analysis of high throughput biological datasets.
