The main purpose of the Medical Casework Officer is to process medical referrals and act as the focal point for enquiries from MCA Approved Doctors and seafarers. To provide administrative support in relation to the seafarer medical examination system.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process and manage ML5 medical referrals, ensuring all medical reports and referral forms are fully complete prior to submission to the ML5 medical assessor via ADIS (online system). Act as focal point for enquiries in relation to ML5 referrals. F
  • Process ENG 1 medical referrals, updating the branch spreadsheet and online medical system with those who are referred to appeal. Act as focal point for standard enquiries in relation to medical appeals and ensure records are kept up to date.
  • Provide administrative support in organising casework audit meetings, and making arrangements for the day.
  • Provide customer service, answering telephone enquiries / emails / letters from seafarers, Approved Doctors, Marine Offices, industry etc in relation to the seafarer medical and eyesight standards, MSN1886.
  • Assist in the recruitment of Approved Doctors by arranging trawl notifications, monitoring and collating application forms for submission to the Chief Medical Adviser and appointing new approved doctors on the online medical system.
  • Provide administrative support in relation to Approved Doctors' audits, liaising with the Chief Medical Adviser and the doctor to agree dates and times, preparing audit packs and monitoring and following up any outstanding non-conformities.
  • Provide support in preparation for and attendance at the annual Approved Doctors' Maritime Health Seminar (November). Management of the delegates attendance list.
  • Contribute and provide support to other administrative tasks such as: branch projects, travel and accommodation arrangements, updating the branch website, customer service initiatives and improvement of working practices
