Basic DBS disclosure required for this role.
Key Requirements:
CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, AAT Level 4 or equivalent professional qualification.
Management Accounting experience.
Excel skills including VLOOKUP, sumif and pivot tables Balance Sheet reconciliations and Year End Tasks.
Experienced in producing accurate management accounts reports and reforecasts in a timely manner.
Experienced in collecting data from a range of sources and analysing quickly to provide actionable options to improve financials, service or processes.
The purpose of the role is to provide financial planning, monthly reporting and other financial support services for designated Frontline Council and Support services delivered by the Council
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for accounting, budgeting and reporting arrangements for assigned areas of the Council’s Revenue Spend and Capital Schemes.
Support the Finance Manager (Systems and Controls) and the Team Leader Controls in the preparation of the Statutory Accounts by preparing Year End working papers for assigned and other areas, and assisting with audit questions.
Producing financial analysis for inclusion in management reports to different user groups - Budget Managers; Corporate Management Team; Cabinet; and Overview and Scrutiny Committees in accordance with agreed timescales.
Support the development and implementation of systems, procedures and information processes in order to improve the level of financial support provided to the council.
Carry out systematic bench-marking of council services and operations against other service providers, other councils and key performance indicators in order to inform managers and drive-up council performance. Using this knowledge to provide proactive advice and guidance to managers on how best to handle their financial activities.
