Skills & Experience required:
Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Must have experience of working in a Housing or Maintenance environment
Customer Service Skills
Excellent communication skills with both team and residents
Must have ability to prepare technical reports and budget estimates with the ability to prepare specifications of work
Ability to analyse the problem, identify appropriate tools and materials for repair
Ability to undertake pre and post inspections, work assessments
Must have ability to diagnose housing repairs as necessary including Damp and Mould and other building defects
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to prioritise workloads, analyse and resolve problems
What's involved with this role: You will be an experienced Damp Surveyor, conducting full property surveys focused on condensation and damp diagnosis and remedial actions. You will apply scientific knowledge of mould types, their causes, and impacts on residents, while continuing to build expertise through ongoing team training.
With a strong understanding of building structures, you will accurately diagnose issues, specify remedial actions, and use diagnostic equipment for seasonal monitoring. You will approach tenants with empathy, create drawings and floor plans, identify building faults, and prepare specifications for improvement works, considering the impact on other property components and obtaining competitive prices.
Key duties:
Order works by use of appropriate systems and Tender/contract procedures.
Supervise works to completion, in line with Council Health & Safety Standards and other statutory requirements
Carry out post inspections, confirm satisfactory completion, authorise payments, investigate invoice queries
Cross-Service/Partnership working liaison skills and experience
Managing external resources through PFI contract partnering to ensure best value for the client
Respond to complaints, compliments and requests for information and consider service review and development in the light of these
