Summary
Lancaster and Morecambe Community Mental Team (CMHT) are looking to recruit a community mental health STR worker. This is a permanent 37.5 hour contract. The successful candidate will work across both sites and undertake CMHT tasks as required. The post is suitable for applicant who have undertaken or willing to work towards a care certificate.
The main job role is to perform duties to support the key-worker. You will need to be confident in working with individuals in a community setting. The majority of the work will be undertaken within the home environment of the client. There is an expectation that you will carry out tasks on your own unless otherwise specified. You will be supported by the key-worker as well as support from the supervision process.
You should have a collaborative and enthusiastic approach as well as passion and commitment in delivering and promoting recovery based approaches for adults with mental health related needs.
As a STR worker you will have a caseload of service users with a range of complex needs. You will carry out support tasks directed from care plans that have been developed by the client and key-worker.
Working pattern (hours): Full Time
Hours/sessions per week: 37.5 hours per week
Within the CMHT we have found that the STR worker holds a vital role in building and retaining therapeutic relationships with clients. The post requires that you are a good communicator, and are able to adopt a flexible, adaptable and proactive approach to your work. Display a genuineness to work with client’s needs which at times can be difficult and demanding.
The service is based over the sites of Victoria House in Morecambe and East Barns in Lancaster, the service is operational between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm.
In return you will benefit from encouragement to continue to develop your own knowledge and competence. Your development will be guided using clinical supervision, operational supervision, team/peer support, training opportunities and using the Trust’s appraisal process.
• To communicate with people clearly in a manner and at a level and pace appropriate to their abilities, preferences and beliefs.
• To actively listen and respond, checking information from other people and confirming its accuracy
• To establish any help people require and act on this appropriately
• To establish links with 3rd sector providers and support service users to engage with these services
• To feed back to the Mental Health Practitioner following delivery of any interventions or planned care.
• Escalate any concern to more senior members of staff.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
