Summary

As a healthcare support worker you will be required to always act in the patients best interests, ensuring patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive. Care for all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, compassion and courtesy in accordance with the Trust values. Provide individualised care. Work collaboratively with the registered nurse and other registered professionals. Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, relatives and colleagues utilising verbal and non-verbal communication methods. Actively involve the patient in decision making around their care and recognise the importance of placing them at the centre of their care. Demonstrate an understanding of the boundaries of the Healthcare Support Worker role. Demonstrate a commitment to continued personal development, undertaking training to develop skills. Welcome and greet patients within the department as requested. Participate in all aspects of patient care for patients of all genders. Contribute to the overall assessment of patients. Assist with taking specimens from the patient for the ward or laboratory testing. Contribute to clear and concise paper and electronic patient documentation. To assist in the smooth running of a variety of clinics working alongside reception and clinical staff or at times autonomously. To act as a chaperone to patients as required. To escort patients to other clinics/departments as required. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department care, delivered by the health care team and that which benefits the patient experience. Participate in cleaning, stocking up and other non-clinical duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department and to maintain a safe environment.
