Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hospital Play Specialist to join our team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.
Based at King's Mill Hospital, you will support play intervention and therapies for all babies, children and young people with the trust, inclusive of departments that may not be children and young people focused but any where children and young people may attended. This includes the paediatric ward, the outpatient clinics and could at times include the Neonatal Unit and the Emergency Department.
Key responsibilites:
• Meet the play and emotional needs of all children and young people, ensuring a quality service is delivered.
• Assist in teaching the value of play/activities for the child/adolescent in hospital.
• Liaise with members of the health care team in the management of the child/adolescent and their family in the hospital setting.
• Assist in the creation of an environment in which play/activity always occurs naturally in the ward.
• Observe and assess the child’s/adolescent’s anxieties and communicate these to appropriate staff.
