Summary
WARD REGISTERED NURSE - FLEXIBANK
One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Ward Registered Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team.
Please note: this is a FlexiBank role working on an 'as and when required' basis; you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff during periods of annual leave or absence.
Reporting to the Ward Manager, the successful Registered Nurse will be required to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team, including:
o Ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during their visit/admission to the hospital.
o Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance in line with hospital policies, national guidelines and best practice standards.
WORKING HOURS: FLEXIBANK SHIFTS ALLOCATED AS AND WHEN REQUIRED
WARD REGISTERED NURSE - FLEXIBANK
QUALIFICATIONS
o Registered Nurse with NMC
EXPERIENCE
o Clinical nursing experience in a ward environment
o Proven ability to work independently and within a team
SKILLS
o Provide pre and post operation care, assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
o Identify patient care requirements by establishing a rapport, providing emotional and psychological support to the patient as well as to their family/carer.
o Provide healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on the condition, medications, self-care and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have.
o Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including administering medication, injections, intravenous infusions, and male and female catheterisation.
o Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on the relevant care pathways, clinical forms and IT systems.
o Create customised care plans through working collaboratively with other departments.
o Effective and safe discharge planning to various locations.
o Assist with establishing and monitoring care pathways, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments.
o Accurate monitoring and recording of Early Warning Score and escalate appropriately as per policy.
o Maintain and practice comprehensive handover of patients between shifts, department and multidisciplinary team including external agencies.
DESIRABLES
o Experience in the private sector
o Relevant clinical skills in addition to assist with minor procedures
