Job Title: Support Worker
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)
Hours: 4 hours per week (Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri)
1 hour each morning: 7.30am – 8.30am
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.80
Based at: Employer’s own home in Suffolk (IP7).
Job Purpose
The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young boy who has learning difficulties. The young boy lives with his Mum and 2 younger siblings. The purpose of this job is to support Mum and the family get ready for their day in the mornings: 7.30am – 8.30am. It is preferred that the candidate lives local to IP7.
Main duties:
To support with:
- Helping the young boy get ready for his School day
- Supporting with getting the child changed, brushing his teeth etc
- Supporting with breakfast time
- To support Mum supervising the children when she gets changed etc
- Constant supervision is always required.
- Support with all safety aspects.
- To be a social friendly companion to the child
- To support with sensory play and reading before school
- You will be required to keep him entertained in the home.
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Personal Specification
• Experience with caring for children is essential.
• Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
• You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
• Be patient and supportive.
