Summary

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park and a major tourist attraction in North Wales. Our offer, aimed firmly at the tourism market place, stands out as being best in class. Our station building at Caernarfon provides an exciting opportunity to provide state-of-the-art facilities to our visitors. We are now recruiting for the team to run the station in 2025.

We are looking for enthusiastic people to assist with the day to day operations at the Station, including serving in the Café, Shop & Ticket Office and delivering events. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team developing the facility into a dynamic, thriving café, retail and events space; creating a vibrant hub both for visitors to the railways and the local community.

• Seasonal contract from 24th March to the 31st October 2025, with the possibility of extension to the start of January 2026

The successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for working in the hospitality, catering or tourism industries and a willingness to learn, develop and contribute to the team. Previous experience in a customer service role would be an advantage but full training will be provided. This is a predominantly Welsh speaking area and the Company operates a bilingual policy. The ability to write and converse in Welsh is therefore highly desirable for these posts. You will be expected to undertake any and all tasks at the station as required therefore a willingness to work flexibly is required.

Core Skills:
• Enthusiasm for working in the hospitality, catering or tourism industry
• ‘Front of House’ position so good communication skills and a cheerful disposition
• Good levels of numeracy, literacy and IT skills
• A willingness to learn new skills
• A good team player with a willingness and enthusiasm for joining in with events and to be flexible and adaptable to any task set
• A basic knowledge and understanding of food and kitchen hygiene would be an advantage
• Knowledge of the railways, their passengers and the local area would be an advantage.
