Summary

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work at the very heart of government, advising the Prime Minister and the No10 team on migration and resettlement policy.

This role offers unparalleled opportunity to drive the Prime Minister’s priorities and represent Government at the highest level. I am looking for a candidate who can operate with credibility, grip multiple issues concurrently and distil complex matters easily. The successful candidate will be a good manager, calm under pressure, resilient and able to build and maintain trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Within No10, you would have a key leadership role, coordinating work across the House ahead of big moments and announcements. You will join an effective and supportive team.

You would also join No10 at a time of change – with the opportunity both to help shape and deliver the Prime Minister’s policy agenda and shape the future direction of No10.

We are committed to a vision of No 10 that provides a world-class service to the Prime Minister and the public, and which is an outstanding and inclusive place to work. We are looking for an exceptional senior leader to play a key role in delivering that vision.

This is a fascinating, rewarding and high-profile role at the heart of government, advising the Prime Minister and his senior team on migration and resettlement policy. The post holder will lead on some of the most important issues facing the country and an area of key interest for the Prime Minister. The post holder will work closely with colleagues at a very senior level across the No10 private office, political and policy teams, and across Whitehall to deliver the Prime Minister’s priorities. The role would suit an outstanding policy adviser and experienced SCS senior leader. You will need excellent judgement, communication and analytical skills; the ability to build credibility and trust with senior stakeholders in No 10 and across Whitehall; and the leadership skills to set direction for Whitehall, operating in a very fast paced environment.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on the migration and resettlement brief in the Policy Unit, coordinating advice and setting strategic direction for teams working on these issues.
  • Leading on the relationship with the Home Office and other impacted Whitehall departments in relation to migration and resettlement policy.
  • Developing new and innovative policies across the Prime Minster’s priority areas, working with colleagues in the Cabinet Office and across Whitehall to ensure they are driven forward.
  • Playing a corporate leadership role across the Policy Unit and No 10, with line management of other members of the team.
